If you want to really learn why liberalism fails, try working for the state. I get to see it every day. Let’s call me a “pro-life libertarian,” a “conservative,” and hopefully a voice of the new GOP.

Amy Nix

Mrs. Nix grew up in Arkansas and has been privileged to live all over the country and in several foreign posts across the world. She is the 34 year-old wife of a United States Marine and the mother of their daughter, Elizabeth. Amy currently lives with her family on post in Okinawa, Japan.. The entire Nix family looks forward to the time when they can return home to America and, once again, live in the free air that is every American’s birthright.
Amy’s interest in politics began at the age of 12 when she first learned to love history. She writes about political issues for IWatchObama.com and her thoughts on other matters can be found on her personal blog at http://concerningmrsnix.blogspot.com/ . In addition to politics and history, Amy has an insatiable love of reading, a ridiculous attachment to her beagle dog, Kioko, and an addiction to Diet Coke beyond reason or regard for digestive health.

Charlie Speight

The Garnet Spy is Charlie Speight, a Cold Warrior and a Reagan conservative. I may even be a Libertarian, especially given Ronald Reagan’s endorsement of it, but the tests have not yet come back.
I was born in North Carolina and grew up in Johnston, SC spending my summers working in a peach packing house.
I married my high school sweetheart and am a proud graduate of the University of South Carolina (the first and REAL “USC”) majoring in International Relations (this is where the ”Garnet” in “Garnet Spy” comes from). After college, we moved to Maryland when I went to work for a U.S. intelligence agency, retiring in July, 2009. We have two sons and, at this writing, a grandson and granddaughter. Both sons, my wife and one of our daughters-in-law graduated from USC. In fact, our sons are the fifth consecutive generation to attend.
In over 34 years as an intelligence officer (thus the “Spy” ), I held a series of assignments in the fields of analysis, management and strategic planning.C Speight As a result of my work, we lived overseas for 7 years (two different countries). My professional assignments/experiences include:
* Strategic planning
* Management
* Policy
* National Intelligence Officer
* National Intelligence Estimates
* Intelligence studies
* Executive position papers
* DoD peacetime and wartime support plans
* Analysis
* Senior Watch Officer
* Writer/Editor
Doree Stone

I am a hard working, middle-aged, single mother of one. I was born on the East Coast and have lived most of my life in the western United States. I now make my home in northern Arizona. It has been my experience that wherever I am, people are pretty much the same. Most are very hard working with traditional values and standards by which they live their lives. Everyone wants peace, healthy children and a safe place to live. I am a firm believer of the adage: If you’re not a Liberal at age 18, you have no heart. If you’re not a Conservative at age 30, you have no brain. I have always been Conservative, but now I think I’m leaning more toward Libertarian as the Conservatives become less and less so. My major concerns are that the Constitution should be adhered to as strictly as possible and the States should do whatever is necessary to regain their sovereignty. I am alarmed at how fast the current administration has tried, and largely succeeded in, usurping so much control over the private sector of this country and even more alarmed at the policies they have announced they will be trying to impose very soon.
